Outer Review 2026: What's Actually Worth Buying
Outer’s aluminum sofa is the smart buy: same cushions and covers as teak for $1,095 less. Here is what freight really adds, how the 20% return fee works, and why sales are worth waiting for.

- During a seasonal promotion. Outer’s fall sale took 15% to 20% off through October 27, and a chaise came with a free cushion set. Off-sale, list prices apply.
Outer sells modular outdoor sofas with one clever trick: each cushion has an attached OuterShell cover that rolls over it when you go inside, so dew and dirt stay off. Frames come in aluminum, teak or handwoven wicker, all with the same memory foam cushions.
It is not cheap. A 3-seat sofa lists from $4,250 to $5,370, delivery adds $375 for three seats, and a full-cover tarp is $450 more. The fall sale took 15% to 20% off through October 27. Our advice: buy the aluminum sofa during a promotion, skip the add-on cover unless your winters are harsh, and confirm the ship date before paying. Trustpilot reviewers describe long delays and slow replies far more often than problems with the furniture itself.

The aluminum sofa is two corner chairs and an armless middle chair, clipped together, with memory foam seat cushions, OuterWeave fabric and the built-in OuterShell cover. Each chair frame weighs 18 to 25 pounds, light enough to move alone, and the powder-coated frame carries a 10-year warranty; cushions get five.
It costs $1,095 less than teak with identical cushions, and it was quoting two weeks to ship. The collection rates 4.9 from 122 reviews. Sorted lowest first, the complaints are mostly about logistics, months to receive every part and slow support, but one three-star owner said the inner cushions broke down and stayed waterlogged for days after rain. Outer’s reply says no outdoor cushion is fully waterproof, so plan to bring them in during long storms.

Handwoven Brown Wicker Outdoor Sofa - 3 Seat

The cheapest 3-seat Outer sofa and its most reviewed, with polyethylene wicker over an aluminum-magnesium frame.
Wicker is the line most Outer owners review: the collection averages 4.9 across 459 reviews. Each chair has a powder-coated aluminum-magnesium frame wrapped in 5mm polyethylene wicker, polished stainless steel legs, and is rated for up to 400 pounds. It shares the memory foam cushions and OuterShell covers, and at $4,250 it lists $25 below aluminum.
The weaker points show in the three-star reviews. Wicker strands are covered for five years, against ten for the metal frame, and one owner with pine trees found needles worked into the weave, forcing them to cover the whole sofa between uses. Older reviews complain of cushions that held a seat imprint, lost bounce within a year or stained after light rain.

Teak Outdoor Sofa - 3 Seat
$5,370 The fall offer took 15% off, to $4,564.50, through October 27.
FSC-certified Grade A teak with the same covered cushions, and the most expensive way into an Outer sofa.
The teak sofa uses FSC-certified Grade A teak sourced from Central Java, with stainless steel clips joining the chairs. It comes assembled, and each chair frame weighs 30 to 36 pounds. Left untreated, the wood weathers to silver-gray, which Outer says is cosmetic.
The teak collection’s reviews show 5.0 from 22, with no low ratings to sort. The weakness is in Outer’s own fine print. Its warranty excludes minor cosmetic cracks, which teak forms as it weathers, and both the product page and the warranty warn that natural teak oil can transfer onto cushions and OuterShell covers, which is not covered. The discount was also smaller than on aluminum and wicker, 15% against 20%.

Charcoal Aluminum Outdoor Core Chaise Lounge
$1,850 The fall offer cut it to $1,572.50 and added a cushion set.
A five-position aluminum sling lounger that works without a cushion, so the $400 pad is optional.
The Core Chaise pairs a powder-coated aluminum frame with a sling made from an OEKO-TEX certified, phthalate-free fabric rated for 2,000 hours of sun. The backrest has five positions, including fully flat, and the chaise weighs 35 pounds without its cushion.
The sling is the point: it dries fast and needs no pad, so the $400 OuterWeave cushion is a nice-to-have, not a requirement, unless a promotion throws it in, as the fall offer did. The weakness is evidence. The page showed a single review, and the sling carries a five-year warranty against ten for the frame. Bought on its own it also pays the flat $275 freight fee, so add it to a sofa order instead.

Outdoor Bug Shield Throw Blanket
from $99 50 x 60 inches; the 60 x 80 size is $124. Some colors were unavailable.
A recycled-polyester throw treated with Insect Shield, and the cheapest Outer product that ships free.
This is the low-risk way to try Outer. The throw is 100% post-consumer recycled polyester treated with Insect Shield, which Outer says repels mosquitoes, ticks, fleas and flies and stays effective through 25 washes. It ships free by ground, unlike the furniture.
The limits are written on the page. The repellency is rated for 25 washings, so a heavily used blanket will lose it within a couple of seasons. Several color and size combinations were unavailable when we checked, including the Stone Gray Buffalo Plaid in both sizes. There were no customer reviews to read, and accessories carry Outer’s shortest warranty, one year. At $99 those are small risks.

Concrete Fire Pit Table - Round

A glass-fiber concrete fire table with ceramic spheres and electronic ignition, priced well above what it does.
The round table is 40.2 inches across and 12.2 inches high, made from glass-fiber reinforced concrete, with a 22-inch stainless burner pan, ceramic spheres and electronic ignition. It is CSA certified, works as a coffee table with its cover on, and can take an optional cooking set.
We pass on value grounds. At $3,850 it is most of the price of a sofa, it was quoting five to six weeks to ship, the natural gas version was unavailable, and its warranty is three years, against ten for Outer’s seating frames. Ordered alone it adds $275 freight. Its four on-site reviews are all five stars, but one owner still wished it came with a weather cover and a place to store the spheres.

Outer’s own pages show near-perfect averages: 4.9 from 122 reviews for the aluminum collection, 4.9 from 459 for wicker, 5.0 from 22 for teak. Sorted lowest first, the few unhappy owners mostly praise the furniture and fault the wait.
Trustpilot is split. Outer scores 3.7 from 115 reviews, with 57% five-star and 32% one-star, and Trustpilot notes the company has not invited reviews recently. The one-star reviews from 2025 and 2026 repeat one story: ship dates that came and went, pieces arriving damaged or missing, phone lines that go to voicemail and a chatbot that sends customers back to email. One buyer said the stain on a set of dining chairs whitened within two months. Positive reviews come from long-term owners whose wicker and aluminum have held up for years in sun and sea air.

Questions, answered
Can I return Outer furniture if I change my mind?
Yes, for a long time but not for free. Outer accepts returns within 365 days of delivery on its teak, aluminum, wicker, OuterStone, dining, fire pit, rug and blanket collections, with a 20% return fee plus the cost of return shipping. Exchanges are treated the same way. Open-box, discontinued and partner products cannot be returned, and damage must be reported within 14 days of delivery.
How much does Outer delivery cost?
Seating ships by scheduled freight priced by seat count: $275 for one or two seats, $375 for three, up to a $675 cap for six or more. That service includes placement, unpacking, packaging removal and assembly. Ottomans, chaises, fire pit tables and dining sets ride free with seating, or cost $275 alone. Small items such as blankets and pillows ship free by ground.
Do I need Outer’s All-Weather Cover if cushions have OuterShell?
Not everywhere. Outer says OuterShell is for daily protection from dew and dirt, and recommends the separate All-Weather Cover for frequent rain, snow or wind. A cover for the 3-seat sofa costs $450. Outer’s own reply to a reviewer notes that no outdoor cushion is fully waterproof, so in a stormy climate either buy the cover or bring cushions in.
