Saatva Review 2026: Which Mattresses Are Worth the Money

Saatva’s cheapest pillow-top coil bed is also its smartest buy. Here is which firmness and height to pick, what the $99 return fee covers, and why you should never pay the list price.

Saatva sells its mattresses online, makes them to order in the US and delivers them flat, carried in by a crew rather than dropped on your porch in a box. That service is folded into the price, which is why even its entry-level queen lists above $2,100.

The adult range runs from the $1,399 twin Memory Foam Hybrid to the Solaire air bed, which tops $4,700 in a queen. The step-ups are real, but most of them solve problems most people do not have. Our advice is short: buy the Classic in Luxury Firm at 11.5 inches, wait for one of the frequent sales, and think hard before adding the adjustable base, the one big item Saatva will not take back.

Each model, priced and called

01Smart buyBest for: Most sleepers and couples

Saatva Classic

from $1,449 Twin, 11.5-inch. A queen lists at $2,229; the October sale cut that to $1,904.

The innerspring that made Saatva’s name, and still the model where your money buys the most mattress.

The Classic stacks a 3-inch Euro pillow top over two coil layers: individually wrapped coils on top of a support coil base, 884 plus 416 of them in a queen. You choose between Plush Soft, Luxury Firm and Firm, and between 11.5 and 14.5 inches, all at nearly the same price.

Luxury Firm, rated 5 to 7 out of 10, is the one Saatva calls its most popular and the safest blind pick. The catch shows up in the lowest-rated reviews: firmness is the recurring complaint, in both directions. Several Plush Soft buyers describe it as hard, and some Firm buyers found it softer than expected. One reviewer also reported the edge sinking when sitting down. Budget for the possibility of a $99 exchange.

Upside

  • Three firmness levels and two heights for almost the same money
  • Two coil layers and a pillow top at Saatva’s lowest coil-bed price
  • Works on most existing foundations, box springs and slatted platforms

Downside

  • Firmness labels do not match every buyer’s idea of soft or firm
  • The 14.5-inch version cannot go on an adjustable base

From the product page

  • Heights 11.5 or 14.5 inches
  • Firmness Plush Soft, Luxury Firm, Firm
  • Coils, queen 884 wrapped plus 416 base
  • Weight, queen 11.5-inch 110 lb

02Good buyBest for: Side sleepers on a budget

Memory Foam Hybrid

from $1,399 Twin. A queen lists at $2,149, $80 below the Classic.

Saatva’s cheapest adult mattress, with a memory foam feel on wrapped coils so you do not sink in.

This is the model to pick if you like the hug of memory foam but have slept hot on it before. Saatva layers its AirCradle memory foam and a gel-infused lumbar strip over individually wrapped coils, rated Medium, 5 to 7 out of 10, and aimed first at side sleepers.

It is also the lightest adult bed in the range: a queen weighs 70 pounds against 110 for the Classic, which matters for stairs and for anyone who rotates a mattress. There is only one firmness and one 11.5-inch height, so there is nothing to fine-tune. Low-rated reviews are scarce on this one, and the few there are concern delivery rather than comfort, including one buyer who waited well past the 21-day window and another put off by the heaps of packaging.

Upside

  • Lowest list price of any Saatva adult mattress
  • Lightest queen in the range at 70 pounds
  • Wrapped coils keep it springier than all-foam beds

Downside

  • Single Medium firmness and a single height, no options

From the product page

  • Height 11.5 inches
  • Firmness Medium, 5-7 out of 10
  • Weight, queen 70 lb
  • Support individually wrapped coils

03Wait for a saleBest for: Latex fans and hot sleepers

Saatva Latex Hybrid

from $1,819 Twin. A queen lists at $2,759; the October sale took $325 off.

Organic-certified natural latex over wrapped coils, with no polyurethane foam, at a price that only makes sense on sale.

The Latex Hybrid puts a 5-zone layer of GOLS-certified organic natural latex, vented for airflow, over individually wrapped coils, under a cover with organic cotton and organic New Zealand wool. Saatva says it contains no petroleum-based foam, which is the real reason to choose it over the Classic.

It is rated Medium-Firm, 6 out of 10, and suited best to back and stomach sleepers. Side sleepers should note the low-rated reviews: several call it board-like, and two separate buyers complained that the hand-tufted buttons on top dug into them through the night. A queen costs $530 more than the Classic at list price, so if materials are not your priority, that gap buys very little extra comfort.

Upside

  • Natural latex and wool with no polyurethane foam
  • Latex and wool that Saatva says breathe better than synthetic foam

Downside

  • Tufting buttons and a firm feel bother some side sleepers
  • Costs $530 more than a queen Classic at list price

From the product page

  • Height 12 inches
  • Firmness Medium-Firm, 6 out of 10
  • Latex GOLS-certified organic natural latex
  • Weight, queen 120 lb

04Good buyBest for: Sleepers over 300 pounds

Saatva HD

from $2,139 Twin. A queen lists at $3,639; the October sale took $425 off.

A heavy-duty hybrid built for sleepers up to 500 pounds, and the only Saatva bed that makes that promise.

Most mattresses quietly assume a lighter body. The HD is designed around sleepers from 300 to 500 pounds, with 12.5-gauge tempered steel coils, high-density foam edges and a 3-inch Euro pillow top with natural latex. At 15.5 inches it is the tallest bed Saatva makes.

It is rated Medium-Firm for its target sleepers, and Saatva warns that anyone under 300 pounds will find it firmer than that. The handful of low reviews say exactly this: too firm, uncomfortable. It is also heavy, at 135 pounds for a queen, and Saatva recommends its own HD foundation or a solid surface over slats to protect the warranty. For a heavier sleeper it earns the money; for anyone else it is the wrong bed.

Upside

  • Rated for sleepers up to 500 pounds
  • Reinforced edges for sitting and getting in and out

Downside

  • Feels too firm for most people under 300 pounds
  • Heavy, tall, and happiest on a solid foundation

From the product page

  • Rated for sleepers up to 500 lb
  • Height 15.5 inches
  • Coils 12.5-gauge tempered steel

05Wait for a saleBest for: Couples who disagree on firmness

Solaire Adjustable Firmness Mattress

from $3,639 Twin XL; there is no twin. A queen lists at $4,789; the October sale took $525 off.

An air-chamber bed with 50 firmness settings per side, sold as Saatva’s answer to Sleep Number.

Solaire swaps coils for air chambers you inflate or deflate with a wireless remote, through 50 settings, separately on each side in queen and larger. Above the air sit flippable latex and memory foam comfort layers and a Euro pillow top. Saatva compares it directly with the Sleep Number 360 i10 on its own product page.

It solves one problem well: two people who want different beds. It also has the weakest warranty of any Saatva mattress. The standard Saatva mattress warranty replaces a defective bed free for two years; Solaire’s is a repair warranty, free for three years, after which you pay a rising share of the parts. Low-rated reviews include a split-king owner whose two halves and bases drift apart daily.

Upside

  • Firmness adjustable on each side, 50 steps
  • Flippable comfort layers: latex up or memory foam up

Downside

  • Most expensive mattress Saatva sells
  • Pump and parts are covered on a sliding scale after year three

From the product page

  • Firmness settings 50 per side, queen and up
  • Height 13 inches
  • Weight, queen 114 lb
  • Controls wireless remote

06Good buyBest for: Refreshing an older mattress

Natural Latex Mattress Topper

from $255 Twin. A queen is $345.

A 1.5-inch natural latex topper that ships in days and comes with a 180-night trial of its own.

If your mattress is sound but feels tired, a topper is the cheapest way into Saatva. This one is a perforated 1.5-inch slab of natural latex in an organic cotton blend cover, held on by four elastic anchor bands, and it fits any brand of mattress. Unlike the mattresses it ships by parcel, ready in two to three business days.

The weakness is in the spec sheet: 1.5 inches is thin, and there is only one thickness. Low-rated reviews say it felt flat within days for one owner, too firm for another and too soft for a 105-pound buyer, which suggests it does not change much either way. Toppers carry a 180-night trial, so the risk is small.

Upside

  • Its own 180-night trial, separate from any mattress
  • Ships in days, not the weeks a mattress takes

Downside

  • Only 1.5 inches thick, with no thicker option

From the product page

  • Thickness 1.5 inches
  • Material natural latex foam
  • Cover organic cotton blend
  • Fit four elastic anchor bands

Saatva Adjustable Base Plus

from $1,249 Twin. A queen lists at $1,599; Saatva takes an extra $100 off with a mattress.

A well-equipped power base, and the one large Saatva item with no trial and no returns.

On paper the Base Plus is generous: head and foot lift, zero-gravity and anti-snore presets, three-speed massage, under-bed lighting, USB-A and USB-C ports, and a phone control app. Leggett & Platt or BedTech builds the base and handles its warranty. Legs adjust for a bed height of 12 to 17 inches.

We pass for one reason. Saatva’s own trial page says adjustable bases have no home trial and cannot be returned or exchanged, so a $1,599 queen is a final sale bolted to a mattress with 365 nights of grace. Repairs run through that manufacturer, and one low-rated review describes two weeks of unreturned calls about a faulty base. If you are certain you want a power base, buy it, but test one in a Saatva viewing room first.

Upside

  • Massage, presets and charging ports included
  • Five years of full coverage on the base

Downside

  • No trial, no returns, no exchanges
  • Not compatible with the 14.5-inch Classic

From the product page

  • Bed height range 12 to 17 inches
  • Presets zero gravity, anti-snore
  • Warranty 5 years full, 25 limited
  • Charging USB-A and USB-C each side

What buyers complain about

On Saatva’s own site the reviews glow: the Classic shows 6,621 reviews averaging 4.8 out of 5 when we read it. Trustpilot is cooler, rating Saatva 3.5 out of 5, “Average”.

The gap is mostly about delivery. Saatva hands the last mile to local partners, and complaints on Trustpilot and Saatva’s own site describe missed windows, slow scheduling and crews that refused an old mattress over a stain. Product complaints cluster around firmness that did not match the label and, in a few Trustpilot reviews, dips forming after one to three years. Several reviewers praise named support staff for fixing problems.

One odd detail: a fair number of one-star reviews on Saatva’s site are raves posted with the wrong star count, a quirk one shopper pointed out in a review of their own. Read the text, not just the stars. Saatva’s pages cite an A+ BBB rating; we could not open the BBB profile to confirm it.

Well-specified mattresses and a year-long trial, held back by a $99 fee on every return, an adjustable base you cannot send back, and delivery complaints that keep its Trustpilot rating middling.

Shop around first

  • Avocado. Choose it instead if certified-organic materials matter more to you than a plush pillow-top feel.
  • Sleep Number. Choose it instead if you want adjustable air firmness and would rather try it in a local store first.
  • Casper. Choose it instead if you want a boxed foam bed you can carry upstairs yourself.

Things people ask

Is returning a Saatva mattress free?

Not quite. Within the 365-night trial Saatva collects the mattress and refunds the purchase price, taxes included, minus a $99 processing fee. Exchanges cost the same $99. Bedding is different: it has a 45-day window with no fee, though Saatva asks you to wash used items first. Adjustable bases are the exception that bites, with no trial and no returns at all.

Should I get the 11.5-inch or 14.5-inch Classic?

For most people, 11.5 inches. The taller version adds only $20, but it cannot sit on an adjustable base, it weighs 10 pounds more in a queen, and it needs deep-pocket sheets. Pick 14.5 inches if you are tall, have trouble getting out of a low bed, or have a frame that looks wrong with a slimmer mattress. Saatva says height and size are the most common reasons for exchanges, so measure first.

Which Classic firmness should I choose?

Saatva rates Plush Soft at 3 out of 10, Luxury Firm at 5 to 7 and Firm at 8, and recommends Firm for stomach sleepers and people from 250 to 300 pounds. Luxury Firm is its most popular level and the safest blind pick for couples. Low-rated reviews show the labels are not universal, so treat the first month as part of the decision.

Does Saatva have promo codes or discounts?

Its help pages say it does not offer promo codes; sale prices apply automatically in the cart. There is a year-round $225 discount on orders of $1,000 or more for military, veterans, first responders, nurses, teachers, students, seniors and some others, verified through ID.me. It does not stack with a sitewide sale: the cart applies whichever discount is larger.

Will a Saatva mattress work with my current bed frame?

Usually. Saatva says its mattresses sit on an existing foundation, box spring or bunkie board, or on a platform with slats at least 3 inches wide and less than 4 inches apart. Check the warranty terms before reusing an old frame: queen and larger beds need a center support, and the Zenhaven and HD need a solid surface over slats.
