Instant Pot Review: The Multi-Cookers to Buy in 2026
The plain Duo 6QT is still Instant Pot’s smart buy at a $109.99 list price. Skip the pricier models whose lids and valves owners say they cannot replace, and buy from a retailer with an easy return window.
We may earn a commission if you buy through our links, once we join a brand's program. It never changes a call. How that works.
- Skip the upgrade
- Skip the Pro and Duo Crisp. Their extra functions cost $60 to $110 more, and their own reviews are full of broken lid tabs and valves owners could not replace.
- Best time to buy
- Instant Pot does not sell from its own US site, so the price depends on the retailer. Compare a few stores before buying, and check their return window first.

Instant Pot made the electric pressure cooker a kitchen staple, and its website now works mainly as a catalog and support center. In the US, instantpot.com lists products with prices but sends shoppers to retailers through a where-to-buy button, and instantbrands.com now forwards to the corporate site of Corelle Brands.
That changes how to buy. Your return window, delivery and any sale price come from the store, while the one-year warranty comes from Instant Pot. Our picks lean on the simpler models: their on-site reviews are the strongest, and the low reviews for pricier models keep returning to one complaint, a broken lid part or valve that Instant Pot would not sell separately. List prices below are the ones shown in Instant Pot’s US store data in October.
The lineup, model by model
Instant Pot Duo 6QT Multi-Use Pressure Cooker
$109.99 Instant Pot’s list price. It is sold through retailers, whose prices vary.
The original 6-quart Instant Pot, with a stainless steel pot and seven cooking functions, at the lowest list price of the full-size line.
The Duo 6QT pressure cooks, slow cooks, sautés, steams and makes rice and yogurt, with 13 one-touch programs and a switch for releasing steam. Its 18/8 stainless pot has a tri-ply bottom and goes in the dishwasher with the lid, and it runs at 1,000 watts.
It shows a 4.9 average from 3,925 reviews on Instant Pot’s site, though several low ones mention UK retailers, so not all of them are about the US model. The complaints include a sealing ring that one UK buyer says stretched after four uses, food sticking to the uncoated pot, preheating that adds to the cook time, and a US owner who could not buy a lid on its own after the release button broke. The 6QT RIO has the same list price but a ceramic-coated pot that some owners say scratched in weeks; we would take the Duo.
Worth it for
- Stainless steel pot with a tri-ply bottom
- Lowest list price for a full-size model
Watch out for
- Replacement lid not sold separately, per one owner
- Preheating adds time not shown in the cook time
The numbers
- Capacity 6 quarts
- Power 1,000 W
- Functions 7, with 13 programs
- Warranty 1 year

Instant Pot Duo Plus 6QT Multi-Use Pressure Cooker
$139.99 Instant Pot’s list price; shown on its site. Sold through retailers.
The Duo with quieter venting, an angled display, sous vide, an anti-spin pot and two spare sealing rings.
For $30 more than the Duo, the Duo Plus adds sous vide and cake to the functions, 25 presets with an angled panel and progress bar, a one-touch steam release button with WhisperQuiet venting, and a pot that does not spin while you stir. It includes two extra sealing rings, which matters given how often owners of other models complain about finding replacements.
Its 39 reviews average 4.8, though it is a small sample. The critical ones are specific. One owner says the slow-cook setting left food raw after almost five hours, another that most of the button lights failed, leaving three presets, and a third that the quiet-release shield hides the valve so you cannot see what it is doing. One reviewer also found the instructions confusing. If quiet venting matters to you, this is the upgrade worth having.
Worth it for
- Quieter, one-touch steam release
- Two spare sealing rings in the box
Watch out for
- Weak slow-cook results in some reviews
- Small review base of 39
The numbers
- Capacity 6 quarts
- Power 1,000 W
- Functions 9, with 25 presets
- Warranty 1 year

Instant Pot Duo Mini 3QT Multi-Use Pressure Cooker
$89.99 Instant Pot’s list price. Sold through retailers, whose prices vary.
A 3-quart Duo for small households and side dishes, with the same stainless pot and seven functions.
The Duo Mini keeps the Duo’s seven functions and stainless tri-ply pot but shrinks to 3 quarts and 700 watts, with 11 programs and a footprint of about 11 by 10 inches. It has the lowest listed price of any Instant Pot pressure cooker in the US store.
It also has the weakest ratings of our recommended picks, 4.2 from 59 reviews. Read the capacity carefully: one owner points out that the pot is marked two-thirds maximum for pressure cooking, so the usable volume is about 2 liters. Other low reviews describe steam leaking with the valve closed, a C6 error after the warranty had ended, a valve that started leaking within a year and plastic on the base that melted. One buyer says Instant Pot would not replace an insert that pitted after the first water test. It suits small batches, not a family.
Worth it for
- Small footprint, same stainless pot
- Lowest price for a real Instant Pot
Watch out for
- Usable pressure-cooking volume is about 2 liters
- Leaking valves and error codes in low reviews
The numbers
- Capacity 3 quarts
- Power 700 W
- Functions 7, with 11 programs
- Warranty 1 year

Instant Pot Vortex Plus 6QT ClearCook Air Fryer
$139.99 List price shown on instantpot.com. Sold through retailers.
A 6-quart basket air fryer with a viewing window and six functions, held back by sensor and odor complaints.
The Vortex Plus air fries, roasts, broils, bakes, reheats and dehydrates at 1,700 watts, with a ClearCook window so you can check food without pulling the basket, six customizable presets and a dishwasher-safe basket and tray.
Its 75 reviews average 4.6, and the low ones share two problems. Several owners say the sensor that confirms the basket is closed failed, leaving a close-basket message on a closed basket; one says it happened after three months, on the fourth unit they had bought. Others report a strong plastic smell that did not fade with use, a fan that stopped within nine days, and a door that cracked within about a year. Support, one reviewer says, took ten days to reply to an email. It is fairly priced only at a discount.
Worth it for
- Window lets you check food without opening
- Dishwasher-safe basket and tray
Watch out for
- Basket-sensor failures recur in reviews
- Plastic odor reported by several owners
The numbers
- Capacity 6 quarts
- Power 1,700 W
- Functions 6
- Warranty 1 year

Instant Pot Pro 6QT Multi-Use Pressure Cooker
$169.99 Instant Pot’s list price. Sold through retailers, whose prices vary.
A 1,200-watt 6-quart cooker with 28 programs, an LCD and handles on the inner pot, but a valve problem in its reviews.
The Pro is the step up: 10 functions including sous vide, sterilizing and bake, 28 programs with five favorites, a large LCD, a gentler steam release with a diffusing cover, inner-pot handles, and 1,200 watts, which Instant Pot says preheats 20% faster. It includes an extra sealing ring.
Its 41 reviews average 4.2, and the one-star reviews tell one story repeatedly. Three owners say the steam release valve broke or arrived missing and they could not buy a replacement, from Instant Pot or elsewhere. Another describes display and button failures within two years. One noticed that the 6-quart pot’s max fill line is marked at 4 quarts. The extra speed and controls are real, but at $60 over the Duo for a part you may not be able to replace, wait for a good discount.
Worth it for
- 1,200 watts and 28 programs
- Inner pot with handles, plus a spare ring
Watch out for
- Owners report steam valves unavailable to buy
- Display and button failures in low reviews
The numbers
- Capacity 6 quarts
- Power 1,200 W
- Functions 10, with 28 programs
- Warranty 1 year

Instant Pot Duo Crisp 6.5QT with Ultimate Lid
$219.99 Instant Pot’s list price. A smart version is listed at $249.99.
One lid that pressure cooks and air fries, with the most consistent breakage complaints of any model we read.
The Ultimate Lid is a clever idea. One lid handles pressure cooking, air frying and 11 other functions, with a protective cover that keeps the air-fry element clean, a large LCD that tells you when it is safe to open, and 1,500 watts. You get 6.5 quarts and a 2-in-1 rack.
It also has the lowest rating of our picks, 4.0 from 191 reviews, and the smart version averages 2.8 from 10. The complaints converge on the plastic pressure-cooking cover, whose locating tab owners say snaps off, and on replacements: several say they could not buy one or a fitting seal, one waited three months for a warranty cover, and one was told a failed heating element could not be repaired. Others report it would not seal. For $219.99 you can buy a Duo and a separate air fryer.
Worth it for
- Pressure cooks and air fries with one lid
- 13 functions and a clear LCD
Watch out for
- Pressure-cooking cover tab breaks, per many owners
- Replacement parts hard or impossible to buy
The numbers
- Capacity 6.5 quarts
- Power 1,500 W
- Functions 13
- Warranty 1 year

The review pile, summarized
On instantpot.com the simple models score well: the Duo 6QT averages 4.9 from 3,925 reviews, though some are from UK buyers. The fancier models fall off, to 4.2 for the Pro and 4.0 for the Duo Crisp with Ultimate Lid. Trustpilot rated Instant Pot 1.6 out of 5, “Bad”, when we read it, from reviewers in several countries.
The most common complaint across both is parts. Owners describe a broken lid tab, release button, valve or worn sealing ring, then learning Instant Pot would not sell the part or wanted close to the price of a new cooker. The second theme is slow support: weeks between replies, requests for videos, and advice to restart a unit that would not work. Some buyers also feel misled by capacity, since pots can only be filled two-thirds full for pressure cooking. One Trustpilot reviewer said a critical review with photos was never published on Instant Pot’s site.
Where the 3.3 comes from
| Part | Score | Weight |
|---|---|---|
| Product | 3.6 | 35% |
| Value | 3.9 | 30% |
| Policies | 2.4 | 20% |
| Buying experience | 2.3 | 15% |
| Smart Score | 3.3/5 | |
The basic pressure cookers are cheap and well liked, but the warranty is one year, returns depend on the retailer, and replacement parts for newer models are a recurring complaint.
Other brands to check
- Ninja. Choose it instead if you want a pressure cooker and air fryer combination from a different maker than the Duo Crisp.
- Breville. Choose it instead if you are willing to spend more and want a different maker’s take on the multi-cooker.
- Cosori. Choose it instead if you want a basket air fryer and are not tied to the Instant Pot range.
FAQ
Can you buy an Instant Pot directly from instantpot.com?
In the US, product pages carry a where-to-buy button that lists retailers rather than a checkout. That means returns, delivery and any discount are set by the store you buy from. Instant Pot’s FAQ tells buyers with a damaged new unit to contact the retailer within its return window, and Instant Pot itself only for warranty issues after that.
How long is the Instant Pot warranty?
One year from purchase or delivery, whichever is later, for the original owner from an authorized retailer. Instant Pot chooses whether to repair or replace, a replacement is covered for 12 months from receipt, and Instant Pot does not pay shipping for warranty service. Products bought or used outside the US and Canada, normal wear and tear, and use of unauthorized parts are excluded.
Is a 6-quart Instant Pot really 6 quarts?
The pot holds 6 quarts, but for pressure cooking you can fill it only part of the way. Owners note max fill lines at about two-thirds, and one Pro owner found the line marked at 4 quarts on a 6-quart pot. For a large family or big batches, size up rather than assume you can use the full volume.
Should I worry about replacement parts?
For the basic models, sealing rings for 3-, 6- and 8-quart pots are listed in Instant Pot’s store. Reviews of the Pro, Duo Crisp with Ultimate Lid and RIO Wide include owners who could not find a replacement valve, lid cover or ring. If you choose a less common model, check that parts are available before you buy.
