Walmart Review: The Buys to Buy in 2026

Walmart’s own labels are where the real bargains hide, from $14 jeans to a $40 streamer. Here is what to buy, which upgrade to skip, and why the seller name matters more than the price.

We may earn a commission if you buy through our links, once we join a brand's program. It never changes a call. How that works.

Smart Score3.7/5
Skip the upgrade
Skip the onn 4K Pro unless your TV does Dolby Vision or you need wired ethernet. The $39.98 onn stick already streams 4K with HDR10+ and Atmos.
Best time to buy
From October 1, when Walmart’s extended holiday returns kick in: most items bought through December 31 can go back until January 31. Rollbacks and Clearance run year-round.

Walmart sells almost everything, but the smart money goes to the brands it owns: George and Time and Tru for clothes, Mainstays for the house, onn for electronics. Those labels are priced to undercut national brands, and the product pages carry thousands of reviews, so you can see the weak spots before you pay.

The catch is that Walmart.com is also a marketplace, and a listing can look identical whether Walmart or a third-party seller ships it. Our advice: stick to items marked sold and shipped by Walmart.com, buy own-label basics rather than chasing Rollback electronics, and treat Walmart+ as a grocery-delivery decision, not a shopping one. If you buy in the holiday window, keep the receipt in your account; the January 31 return deadline is generous.

The 6 we looked at

01Smart buyBest for: Work and weekend denim

George Men’s Classic Fit Regular Fit Jeans

$13.98 Medium Stonewash, 34x32, sold and shipped by Walmart.com.

Heavyweight, non-stretch, all-cotton jeans at a price that makes a spare pair a non-decision.

These are the jeans Walmart shoppers keep buying: the product page shows close to 30,000 reviews averaging 4.6 stars. They are 100% cotton, heavyweight and deliberately non-stretch, cut straight through the leg with a regular fit through hip and thigh, in waist sizes from 29 up to 54 including Big Men’s.

The lowest-rated reviews are consistent enough to plan around. A few buyers report seams ripping near the back pocket within weeks, one pair arrived missing a belt loop, and a handful say the sizes run smaller than other jeans with the same number. One reviewer laughed that they are grandpa jeans. At this price a split seam is annoying rather than a loss, and the 90-day return window covers a bad pair, but buy your usual size in store first if you can.

The catch

  • Repeat complaints of seams ripping near the back pocket
  • No stretch, and some buyers find the sizing runs small

Why it's smart

  • Thousands of reviews averaging 4.6 stars at under $14
  • Waist sizes from 29 to 54 in the same style
  • Heavyweight cotton that suits workwear

Specs we checked

  • Fabric 100% cotton, heavyweight, non-stretch
  • Fit straight leg, regular through hip and thigh
  • Sizes waist 29 to 54
  • Rise mid-rise, button and zip fly

02Good buyBest for: Trend denim on a budget

Time and Tru Women’s Wide Leg Jeans

$26.98 Light wash, read in size 16. Long inseams are sold as separate sizes.

A high-rise wide-leg jean with a touch of stretch, and a separate long-length run that most budget brands skip.

Time and Tru is Walmart’s own women’s label, and this is its take on the wide-leg jean: high rise, a 31-inch inseam, 99% cotton with 1% elastane, and sizes 0 to 22 plus a 0L to 22L long range. The page says the denim was reworked with a little less stretch for a more authentic look.

The complaints are mostly about proportion, not quality. Low-rated reviewers say the legs are far wider than the photos suggest and that the sizing is inconsistent with other Time and Tru jeans, with one regular size 10 unable to get them on. Two buyers received white pairs with black marks out of the bag, and one three-star review points out whiskering that runs right up to the front pockets. Order two sizes and return one.

The catch

  • Legs run much wider than the product photos suggest
  • Sizing does not match other Time and Tru jeans for some buyers

Why it's smart

  • Regular and long inseams in sizes 0 to 22
  • Mostly cotton with just enough stretch

Specs we checked

  • Fabric 99% cotton, 1% elastane
  • Rise and inseam high rise, approx. 31 inches
  • Sizes 0 to 22 and 0L to 22L
  • Pockets five-pocket styling

03Good buyBest for: Guest rooms and first apartments

Mainstays Performance Cotton Bath Towel

$3.97 White, single 54 x 30 inch towel. Other colors are listed separately.

A 450 gsm quick-dry towel for less than a coffee, provided you can live with lint for the first few washes.

Mainstays is Walmart’s cheapest home label, and this towel shows why it sells. For under $4 you get a 54 by 30 inch bath towel at 450 gsm, made from 87% cotton and 13% recycled polyester with untwisted yarn for a softer hand. The listing has more than 6,600 reviews averaging 4.6 stars.

The one-star reviews tell a single story: lint. Several buyers describe sheets of fluff in the dryer trap after four washes, fuzz coating a new washing machine, and seams coming apart early. One reviewer was annoyed to discover, after buying, that it is not all cotton and felt like drying off with a T-shirt. If you want a plush, heavy towel, look elsewhere. For a stack of spares, wash them twice before use and they are hard to beat.

The catch

  • Heavy shedding in the first washes is the top complaint
  • Not all cotton, which some buyers notice only after purchase

Why it's smart

  • Under $4 for a full-size 450 gsm bath towel
  • Quick-dry blend that suits damp bathrooms

Specs we checked

  • Weight 450 gsm
  • Size 54 x 30 inches
  • Material 87% cotton, 13% recycled polyester
  • Care machine wash warm, tumble dry low

04Good buyBest for: Upgrading an older TV

onn 4K Streaming Device, Google TV with Gemini

$39.98 The 2026 model, listed as onn 4K Streaming Device GEN3.

Walmart’s own Google TV streamer, with 4K, HDR10+ and Dolby Atmos, for about the price of a takeout dinner.

The 2026 onn stick plugs into HDMI, hides behind the TV, and runs Google TV with a voice remote that now uses Gemini. It streams 4K with HDR10+ and passes Dolby Atmos, with 8GB of storage, 2GB of RAM and dual-band Wi-Fi. In the box are the device, remote, batteries, an AC adapter and an 11.8-inch HDMI extender.

Low-rated reviews mention Wi-Fi drops, one unit that lost its handshake with the TV after three days, and a buyer who says the home screen is as full of ads as Roku’s. Two details deserve attention: the spec table says the device has no written warranty, and consumer electronics get 30 days for returns at Walmart, not the usual 90. One buyer also received an open-box unit already signed in to someone’s account. Set it up the day it arrives.

The catch

  • Only a 30-day return window and no written warranty listed
  • Some owners report Wi-Fi drops and a busy, ad-heavy home screen

Why it's smart

  • 4K with HDR10+ and Dolby Atmos for under $40
  • Voice remote with Gemini search included

Specs we checked

  • Video 4K UHD with HDR10+, Dolby Atmos audio
  • Storage and RAM 8GB and 2GB
  • Wi-Fi dual-band 2.4/5GHz
  • Power USB-C cable with AC adapter

05Wait for a saleBest for: Dolby Vision TVs and gamers

onn 4K Pro Streaming Device, Google TV with Gemini

$59.98 The 2026 model, listed as onn 4K Pro Streaming Device Gen 2.

A box rather than a stick, with Dolby Vision, an ethernet port and four times the storage, for $20 more.

The Pro is the onn to get if your TV supports Dolby Vision or your Wi-Fi is patchy, since it adds an ethernet port and Wi-Fi 6. It also carries 32GB of storage and 3GB of RAM, which Walmart says is double the storage of the onn 4K Plus and 50% more memory, plus a backlit remote you can find by voice. Reviewers like that it lets you sideload apps.

The one-star reviews are a mix of delivery failures and hardware complaints: a box that kept restarting on the Google logo just after the 30-day window closed, a remote that would not pair out of the box, and one unit that arrived scratched and opened. If the $20 jump buys you nothing your TV can show, the cheaper stick is the smarter buy. If it does, wait for a Rollback.

The catch

  • Some units fail just after the 30-day return window
  • Remote pairing problems out of the box in several reviews

Why it's smart

  • Dolby Vision, Wi-Fi 6 and an ethernet port
  • 32GB storage leaves room for apps and games

Specs we checked

  • Video 4K UHD with Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos audio
  • Storage and RAM 32GB and 3GB
  • Connections Wi-Fi 6 and ethernet port
  • Remote backlit, with Find My Remote

06Good buyBest for: Weekly grocery delivery households

Walmart+ Membership

$98 Per year. A 30-day trial costs $1; students and qualifying assistance recipients pay $49 a year.

Free delivery on $35 orders, free shipping with no minimum, and a streaming service, worth it only if you order groceries often.

Walmart+ costs $98 a year and covers free delivery from your local store on orders of $35 or more, free next-day and two-day shipping with no minimum on Walmart.com, a choice of Peacock Premium or Paramount+ Essential, 10 cents a gallon off at participating fuel stations, free home pickup for returns at select locations, and early access to online Black Friday deals. Walmart claims an average saving of $382 a year among annual members, before the fee.

The fine print matters. Free shipping excludes most Marketplace items, and store delivery under $35 carries a $6.99 minimum order fee. The angriest Trustpilot reviews this month are about the delivery itself: late or missing grocery orders, packed badly or left in the driveway. Try the $1 month before committing to a year.

The catch

  • Most Marketplace items are excluded from free shipping
  • Grocery delivery complaints dominate recent Trustpilot reviews

Why it's smart

  • Free shipping with no minimum on items Walmart ships
  • Bundles a streaming service and fuel discounts

Specs we checked

  • Delivery free from store on $35+ orders
  • Shipping free, no minimum, excludes most Marketplace items
  • Streaming Peacock Premium or Paramount+ Essential
  • Trial 30 days for $1

What buyers complain about

Product reviews on Walmart.com are mostly kind: the George jeans average 4.6 stars across close to 30,000 reviews, the onn 4K Pro 4.6. Trustpilot tells a different story about the shopping itself, rating Walmart 1.6 out of 5, “Bad”, when we read it in October 2026.

The recent one-star reviews there are almost all about orders rather than products: grocery deliveries that were delayed for days and then cancelled, drivers who left orders at the wrong door, refunds that took more than a week, and customer service routed through virtual assistants. Several reviewers blame third-party sellers and contractors, and one appliance buyer says Walmart pointed to the seller when a return went wrong.

The same delivery complaints leak into product reviews too. Many one-star ratings on the onn and George pages are about parcels that never arrived, not the item, so read the text before you judge the product.

Questions, answered

What is Walmart’s return window?

Most items can go back within 90 days, free, in store or by mail. The exceptions are the ones to watch: most consumer electronics, including onn streamers, get 30 days, wireless phones 14, major appliances two. Items sold and shipped by Marketplace sellers usually get 30 days. Anything bought from October 1 to December 31 can generally be returned until January 31, although Marketplace seller participation varies.

How can I tell if Walmart or a third-party seller is shipping my item?

Look for the seller name under the price. Items from Walmart itself say sold and shipped by Walmart.com; Marketplace items name the seller. It matters: one search for streaming devices this month showed Roku players sold by outside sellers next to Walmart’s own onn boxes. Marketplace items can have shorter return windows, restocking fees of up to 20% and no Walmart+ free shipping, though you can still return them at a Walmart store.

Does Walmart price match?

Only in limited ways. Walmart’s price match help page says it will not match prices from Marketplace or third-party sellers, items offered in Walmart stores, or Walmart.com items that drop in price after you buy them. The full rules sit on Walmart’s corporate policy page, and they differ between stores and the website, so check before relying on a match at checkout.
