Target Review 2026: Which Buys Are Worth the Money
Target’s best value is its own brands, because they come with a full year to change your mind. Here is what to buy, the $40 jeans to skip, and why November is the month to shop.
We may earn a commission if you buy through our links, once we join a brand's program. It never changes a call. How that works.
- Skip the upgrade
- Skip the $40 Universal Thread Mid-Rise Loose Jeans. The $28 High-Rise Wide Leg gives a similar relaxed leg, with more reviews and a higher average rating.
- Best time to buy
- From November 1 to December 24. Target’s holiday price match refunds the difference if its own price drops before Christmas, and electronics bought then get an extended return window.

Target sells plenty of national brands, but most of its racks are filled with labels it owns: Universal Thread and Goodfellow & Co for adults, Cat & Jack for kids, Threshold for the home, heyday for cheap tech. Prices sit a notch above Walmart’s own labels, and the design is usually a notch better.
The real reason to buy them is the return policy. Target Owned Brand items can come back within a year with a receipt, against 90 days for most other things and 30 for electronics. That turns a $28 pair of jeans into a low-risk experiment. Our advice is to lean on the owned brands for clothing and towels, avoid the bargain earbuds, and do any big seasonal shopping inside the November to Christmas price-match window.
The 6 we looked at
Universal Thread High-Rise Wide Leg Jeans
$28.00 Medium Wash; every size and wash we read listed at $28.
A stretchy, high-rise wide-leg jean with more than 2,000 reviews and a full year to return it.
Target sells this as its Everyday High-Rise Wide Leg jean: midweight, cotton-rich denim with high stretch (80% cotton, 12% polyester, 6% Elasterell-P, 2% elastane), a 32-inch inseam, and a five-pocket build. Ratings average 4.0 across more than 2,000 reviews, and buyers praise the fit for the money.
The one-star reviews are about size and length. Several shoppers around 5 feet 3 say the regular length covers their feet entirely, and others report waists far smaller than the size guide, including one who measured 26 inches on a pair labeled 29. A couple of buyers mention marks on new jeans or a chemical smell that lingered through washes. Order your usual size and one up; with a year to return an owned-brand item, the spare costs nothing but a trip.
Good
- One-year return window as a Target Owned Brand
- High-stretch denim at $28
- Over 2,000 reviews averaging 4.0 stars
Not so good
- Regular length runs long for shoppers around 5 feet 3
- Waist sizing does not match the size guide for some buyers
Specs we checked
- Fabric 80% cotton, 12% polyester, 6% Elasterell-P, 2% elastane
- Inseam 32 inches
- Rise and fit high rise, wide leg, regular fit
- Stretch high stretch, midweight

Goodfellow & Co Every Wear Short Sleeve 100% Cotton T-Shirt
$10.00 Every color and size we read listed at $10.
A $10 all-cotton crew neck that most buyers like, though long-time fans say the redesign shrinks.
The Every Wear tee is plain on purpose: 100% cotton jersey, a ribbed crew neck, standard fit and at-hip length, with no pocket. At $10 it is one of the cheapest single tees Target makes, and its reviews average 4.4 stars.
Read the one-star reviews before you stock up. A run of them, all from the last few weeks, comes from long-time Goodfellow buyers who say Target replaced an older tee with this version and that the new one is boxier, scratchier and shrinks badly. Several describe XXL shirts ending up crop-top short after a wash. Other buyers report no shrinking at all, and one praises it as a blank for heat-press vinyl. Buy one, wash it hot, and only then buy five.
Good
- 100% cotton jersey for $10
- Owned-brand one-year return window covers a bad wash
Not so good
- Repeated reports of shrinking in length after washing
- Long-time buyers say the redesign is boxier and rougher
Specs we checked
- Fabric 100% cotton jersey
- Fit standard fit, at-hip length
- Neckline ribbed crew
- Care machine wash, tumble dry

Total Fresh Antimicrobial Towel - Threshold
from $8.00 Hand towel. A bath towel lists at $9 and the oversized bath sheet at $14.
Heavyweight, OEKO-TEX-certified cotton towels sold as low lint, with a lint problem in the reviews.
Threshold’s Total Fresh towels are 100% cotton terry in the heavyweight 550 to 800 gsm band, sold in hand towel, bath towel and 63 by 33 inch bath sheet sizes, with an antimicrobial finish and Made in Green by OEKO-TEX certification. More than 7,000 reviews average 4.4 stars.
The irony is in the bullet points. Target lists Low Lint as a feature, and lint is the single biggest complaint among the one-star reviews: buyers describe emptying the dryer screen three times, lint still sticking to skin after four washes, and towels too fluffy to wash with anything else. Others report hems unraveling within a few washes or less than a year. One reviewer noted paying $7 for a towel that now costs $9, so watch for a Target Circle deal before buying a full set.
Good
- 100% cotton, heavyweight, OEKO-TEX Made in Green
- Matching hand towel, bath towel and bath sheet sizes
Not so good
- Sold as low lint, yet shedding tops the complaints
- Several reports of hems unraveling
Specs we checked
- Material 100% cotton terry
- Weight heavyweight, 550-800 gsm
- Bath sheet size 63 x 33 inches
- Certification OEKO-TEX Made in Green

Cat & Jack Kids’ Puffer Jacket
$30.00 Black, size M. Toddler versions list at $22.
A light, recycled-polyester hooded puffer for $30, backed by Target’s one-year owned-brand return window.
Kids outgrow coats, which is why a cheap one with a long return window makes sense. This Cat & Jack puffer is 100% recycled polyester inside and out, including the fill, with a hood, full-length front zip, two front pockets and a water- and wind-resistant shell. It is machine washable, though the page gives no drying instructions.
The review base is thin, with only eight ratings when we checked, so treat any verdict cautiously. Parents call it warm and packable, but two say the sleeves run long, and one three-star review reports holes appearing early. Target classes the fabric as lightweight, so in a properly cold winter it is a layering jacket, not a parka. If it fails, Target Owned Brand items can be returned within a year with a receipt.
Good
- Water- and wind-resistant shell with a hood
- One-year owned-brand return window for growing kids
Not so good
- Only a handful of reviews, one reporting early holes
- Lightweight fill; sleeves run long for some kids
Specs we checked
- Shell, lining and fill 100% recycled polyester
- Features water and wind resistant, hooded
- Closure front full-length zipper
- Care machine wash

heyday True Wireless Bluetooth Earbuds
$9.99 Black. The sweat-resistant heyday version lists at $17.99.
Ten-dollar true wireless earbuds whose reviews average under three stars, mostly because they will not pair.
On paper this is a cheap spare: true wireless earbuds with touch controls, four sizes of ear tips, USB-C charging and up to 18 hours of playback with the case. The spec sheet is honest about the limits, listing no water resistance rating and no active noise cancelling, and a one-year limited warranty.
The reviews are the problem. They average 2.87 stars across 68 ratings, and only 14% of reviewers recommend them. The one-star reviews repeat the same failure: the two earbuds will not pair together, so only one connects. Others stopped charging after a single use or died within weeks, and one buyer exchanged a pair only to hit the same fault again. Electronics also get just 30 days for returns at Target. Spend more, or pick a different brand.
Good
- USB-C case with up to 18 hours of playback
- One-year limited warranty listed
Not so good
- Frequent reports that the two buds will not pair together
- Averages 2.87 stars; only 14% of reviewers recommend it
Specs we checked
- Battery up to 18 hours with case
- Charging USB-C, about 2 hours
- Water resistance no rating
- Noise cancelling none

Target Circle 360
$99 Per year, or $10.99 a month. Target Circle Card holders pay $49 a year.
Target’s paid membership: unlimited same-day delivery on $35 orders, extra return time and a 14-day free trial.
Target Circle 360 costs $99 a year or $10.99 a month, and Target Circle Card holders get it for $49 a year. It covers unlimited same-day delivery on orders of $35 or more from Target and, through Shipt, from local grocers and pet stores, plus free 2-day shipping on eligible items, an extra 30 days for returns, and monthly freebies. Non-members pay a $9.99 fee for each same-day delivery, so the annual plan pays for itself after about ten orders.
There are limits. Free 2-day shipping is already open to anyone spending $35 or paying with a Target Circle Card, so shipping alone is not a reason to join. Recent Trustpilot complaints about online orders, stock that was not really in stock and slow pickups apply to members too. Use the 14-day free trial before paying.
Good
- Same-day delivery from Target and local stores via Shipt
- 14-day free trial; $49 a year with a Circle Card
Not so good
- Free 2-day shipping is available without it on $35 orders
- Only worth it if you use same-day delivery often
Specs we checked
- Price $99 a year or $10.99 a month
- Delivery unlimited same-day on $35+ orders
- Returns an extra 30 days
- Trial 14 days free

Reading the one-star reviews
Target’s own product reviews are mostly warm: the Universal Thread wide-leg jeans average 4.0 across more than 2,000 ratings and the Threshold towels 4.4 across more than 7,000. Trustpilot is cold, rating Target 1.6 out of 5, “Bad”, when we read it in October 2026.
Recent one-star Trustpilot reviews focus on online orders and stores rather than products: website stock that was not on the shelf, slow pickup counters, and a shopper who found the online price lower than the store price and needed a human agent to get it honored. One buyer describes a Target Plus marketplace bed frame that failed after four months and a loop between Target and the seller with no refund.
On Target.com itself, the sharpest complaints are about redesigns. Long-time Goodfellow customers say their favorite tee got worse, and towel buyers say the low-lint label does not hold up.

A one-year return window on its own brands and a holiday price match are hard to beat, but quality complaints on redesigned basics and a 1.6 Trustpilot rating pull it down.
Other brands to check
- Walmart. Choose it instead if the lowest possible price on own-label basics matters more than design or the one-year return window.
- Kohl’s. Choose it instead if you prefer national clothing and home brands to store labels.
FAQ
What counts as a Target Owned Brand for the one-year return?
Private-label lines developed only for Target, such as Universal Thread, Goodfellow & Co, Cat & Jack and Threshold. You get a year to return or exchange them with a receipt, and a purchase in your Target Wallet history counts as one. Two catches: limited-time designer collaborations usually get only two weeks, and the extra 30 days that Circle Card holders and Circle 360 members get does not stack on top of the year.
How does Target’s holiday price match work?
For purchases from November 1 to December 24, 2026, if the price of the same item drops at Target.com or in your local store on or before December 24, you can ask for the difference with proof of purchase. Outside that window the usual 14-day price-match rules apply. Clearance, closeout, refurbished items and promotions with a gift card attached are excluded, and screenshots are not accepted.
Can I return electronics to Target after 30 days?
Usually not. Most electronics and entertainment items have a 30-day window, and Apple and Beats products only 14 days. Electronics bought from November 1 through December 24 get an extended holiday return window, and Circle Card holders get extra time on most purchases. Mobile phones can carry a restocking charge of up to $35 if opened.
Is Target Circle 360 worth it if I only shop online?
Probably not for shipping alone. Target already ships eligible items free in two days when you spend $35 or pay with a Target Circle Card. The membership earns its fee through unlimited same-day delivery on $35 orders, which otherwise costs $9.99 each time, plus an extra 30 days for returns. Try the 14-day free trial during a busy stretch and count your orders.
