Fashion Nova Review: The Smart Buys (and What to Skip)
Fashion Nova’s best value is in fleece sets and joggers, not its trendiest pieces. Buy only during NovaDeals, size with care, and remember a return gets you store credit, never cash.
We may earn a commission if you buy through our links, once we join a brand's program. It never changes a call. How that works.
- Skip the upgrade
- Skip the Maribel Snatched Jumpsuit and other compression pieces. Ripped seams and sizing complaints pile up, and a misfit only earns you store credit.
- Best time to buy
- During NovaDeals, which ran across 4,627 women’s styles in October with a ‘starting at $5’ banner on product pages. Free standard shipping starts at $75.

Fashion Nova is a California fast-fashion label sold mainly through its own site, with women’s, plus-size Curve, men’s and kids’ lines. Prices are low even before the near-constant NovaDeals markdowns: a pair of men’s joggers lists at $29.99 and most women’s sets sit under $50.
The clothes are not the hard part. The policies are. Every return is refunded as a Fashion Nova gift card, there are no exchanges, a prepaid return label costs $5.99, and orders cannot be cancelled once placed. So the smart way to shop is narrow: buy the forgiving, well-reviewed basics like fleece sets and joggers on deal, read the size notes in the reviews, and treat fitted or shaping pieces as a gamble.
The 6 we looked at
On The Go Fleece Pant Set
$49.99 List price for the two-piece set; it showed $34.99 during an October deal.
A cropped zip-up hoodie and wide-leg fleece pants sold together, and the best-rated set of those we read.
This two-piece set pairs a cropped zip-up hoodie with drawstring wide-leg pants in a 60% cotton, 40% polyester fleece, and comes in 14 colors from aqua to taupe, in sizes XXS to 3X. Its 2,569 on-site reviews averaged 4.7 out of 5 when we read them, which is high for Fashion Nova.
The cotton-heavy blend is the reason we rate it above the polyester sets. The weakness is length and cut. The lowest-rated reviews split between buyers who found it runs big and those who said the 31-inch inseam floods on anyone around 5 foot 7 or taller. One buyer also said the color did not match what she ordered. Size down if you are between sizes and short; stay true to size if you are tall.
Worth it for
- Cotton-rich fleece rather than the all-polyester blend of many sets
- Two pieces for less than many brands charge for joggers alone
- Wide color range and sizes up to 3X
Watch out for
- Inseam reads short for taller buyers while the top runs roomy
From the product page
- Fabric 60% cotton, 40% polyester
- Pieces cropped zip-up hoodie, wide-leg pant
- Inseam 31 inches
- Sizes XXS to 3X

Tyson Jogger
$29.99 List price; it was marked down to $12.00 in October.
A Fashion Nova Men staple with over 4,000 reviews, a plain cotton-blend sweatpant that is worth it at deal prices.
The Tyson is a basic: elastic drawstring waist, side hand pockets, a back patch pocket and ribbed cuffs, in a 60% cotton, 40% polyester blend and 11 colors. It sits in the men’s section, has big-and-tall sizing, and drew 4,102 reviews averaging 4.6 out of 5. A matching Tyson Hoodie is sold separately at $34.99.
At the October price of $12 it is hard to argue with. The 180 one-star reviews are worth reading, though, because many are raves left with the wrong star count. The real complaints are consistent: it runs large, so several buyers said they should have sized down, and a few describe thin fabric, including one pair that ripped after a single wear.
Worth it for
- Cotton-blend fleece at a very low deal price
- Big-and-tall sizes and 11 colors
Watch out for
- Runs large, and some buyers found the fabric thin
From the product page
- Fabric 60% cotton, 40% polyester
- Pockets two side, one back patch
- Colors 11
- Sizing plus and big-and-tall available

Westside Low Rise Wide Leg Jean
$39.99 Regular inseam. It was $20.00 during October’s NovaDeals.
A 100% cotton, non-stretch wide-leg jean that buyers like for the fabric and struggle with on sizing.
Most Fashion Nova jeans lean on stretch. The Westside goes the other way: 100% cotton, no stretch, a 9-inch low rise and a long 33-inch inseam, in black, light and vintage washes, with a separate Tall version. Its 228 reviews averaged 4.6 out of 5.
Rigid denim means sizing matters more than usual, and that is exactly what the low ratings are about. Some buyers found it far too baggy at their normal size; others, especially curvier buyers, said it was tight through the seat with no give, and one called it painful to sit in. Some buyers said the regular length dragged on the floor. The reviews that end happy tend to say the same thing: read the size chart, measure a pair of jeans you own, and size up if you have hips.
Worth it for
- All-cotton denim, unusual at this price
- Separate Tall version for longer legs
Watch out for
- No stretch, so a wrong size has no give at all
- Long 33-inch inseam drags on shorter buyers
From the product page
- Fabric 100% cotton, non-stretch
- Rise 9 inches, low
- Inseam 33 inches
- Washes black, light, vintage

Almost Every Day Leggings
$14.99 List price; NovaDeals cut it to $8.00 in October.
A high-rise polyester legging that is fine as a cheap layering basic and disappointing as anything more.
These are high-waisted, high-stretch leggings in a 90% polyester, 10% spandex knit with a 26-inch inseam, in eight colors and plus sizes. They are popular, with 3,730 reviews averaging 4.3 out of 5, but they also have one of the larger one-star piles we read: 309 reviews.
The complaints are about the fabric. Buyers describe it as thin, silky rather than cotton-like, and see-through when stretched; one said the black looked ashy and faded out of the bag, and another said a pair ripped before it was worn. Several also said the waistband has little stretch. At $8 they are a reasonable throwaway basic to wear under a long top. At the full $14.99 you can do better elsewhere.
Worth it for
- Very cheap during NovaDeals
- Plus sizes and eight colors
Watch out for
- Thin, shiny fabric that several buyers found see-through
From the product page
- Fabric 90% polyester, 10% spandex
- Inseam 26 inches, size small
- Rise high waisted
- Colors 8

Big City Dreams Boots
$59.99 List price; it showed $41.99 in October.
A pointed-toe wedge bootie with gold hardware, well liked for the look and criticized for small sizing.
The Big City Dreams is a non-stretch, pointed-toe bootie on a 3.25-inch wedge with gold hardware, in seven finishes from black to leopard and silver, sizes 6 to 11 with no half size above 8.5. Its 729 reviews averaged 4.7 out of 5.
The product page does not state the upper material, so do not assume leather. The low-rated reviews are mostly about fit: several buyers said it runs a size or more small, one could not get a size 9 on at all, and wide-calf buyers struggled to pull it up. A two-star review says the pair started falling apart after a couple of hours of walking. Because returns come back as store credit, size up or skip it if you have wide feet.
Worth it for
- Seven colors including leopard and metallic
- Wedge heel is steadier than a stiletto
Watch out for
- Runs small and tight on wide feet and calves
- Upper material is not listed on the product page
From the product page
- Heel 3.25-inch wedge
- Toe pointed
- Sizes 6 to 11
- Colors 7

Maribel Snatched Jumpsuit
$39.99 List price; it showed $24.00 in October.
A high-neck compression-rib jumpsuit that photographs well and has the worst durability record of our picks.
The Maribel is a long-sleeve, high-neck jumpsuit in a compression rib of 82% rayon and 18% spandex, with a zip back, in six colors. It sells well, with 1,877 reviews, but its 4.3 average hides 162 one-star reviews, roughly one in twelve.
Those reviews describe the same failures again and again: seams splitting at the seat, a zipper that broke, holes on arrival, and fabric thin enough to show underwear. Sizing runs tight, and several buyers say to go a size up. One reviewer bought three colors and said all three ripped, two of them while being tried on. With returns refunded only as store credit, minus the label fee if you buy one, the risk is not worth the saving.
Worth it for
- Thick-looking rib and a high neck that layers well
- Six colors, from off white to olive
Watch out for
- Repeated reports of ripped seams and broken zippers
- Runs tight; many buyers say to size up
From the product page
- Fabric 82% rayon, 18% spandex
- Closure zip back
- Style long sleeve, high neck
- Colors 6

The review pile, summarized
Trustpilot rated fashionnova.com 4.4 out of 5, “Excellent”, across 207,247 reviews when we read it, and flags that the company invites its customers to leave reviews and has not replied to negative ones. The BBB tells a different story: a B rating, no accreditation, and 11,525 complaints on file.
The recent one-star reviews on Trustpilot circle the same issues: refunds paid only as a gift card, paying to send items back, no exchanges, express shipping that arrived late, and trouble reaching a human rather than a chatbot. One reviewer called out the .48 and .98 final-sale prices directly.
On Fashion Nova’s own site, many reviews carry a #FNSweepstakes tag, and a fair share of the one-star reviews are actually raves posted with the wrong star count. The real complaints there are about sizing that runs big on loungewear, small on boots, and fabric that is thinner than it looks.

Things people ask
Does Fashion Nova give refunds to your card?
No. Its return policy says returns are refunded as store credit in the form of a Fashion Nova gift card, processed five to seven business days after the item reaches the warehouse. You have 30 days from delivery, items must be unworn with tags, and US customers can buy a prepaid return label for $5.99. There are no exchanges: you return the item and buy the new size again.
Which Fashion Nova items cannot be returned?
Anything priced ending in .48 or .98 is final sale, along with bodysuits, swimwear, undergarments, beauty products, accessories and party wear such as Halloween costumes. Check the cents on the price before you check out, especially during clearance, because those endings are how the site marks final-sale items.
Can I cancel or change a Fashion Nova order?
Not after it is placed. The help center says it cannot cancel orders or change items, sizes, payment, shipping method or discount codes once an order goes through. The only way out is to wait for delivery and return it, which means store credit and possibly the $5.99 label fee, so double-check sizes before paying.
Does Fashion Nova sizing run small or large?
It depends on the item, which is the frustrating part. In the reviews we read, fleece sets and men’s joggers tend to run large, boots run small, and compression pieces like the Maribel jumpsuit run tight. Non-stretch denim such as the Westside jean is the least forgiving. Read the lowest-rated reviews for size notes before ordering.
