Is Greenworks Worth It? 2026 Review

Greenworks marks down almost everything, so the smart buy is the 60V self-propelled mower kit on sale. Here is which voltage to commit to, which deals are final sale, and why you should buy during a flash sale.

We may earn a commission if you buy through our links, once we join a brand's program. It never changes a call. How that works.

Smart Score3.5/5
Skip the upgrade
Skip the 80V 21-inch mower with the 8.0Ah battery. At $799.99 it costs $350 more than the discounted 60V kit, which mows the same 3/4 acre with two batteries.
Best time to buy
During a flash sale. In October a countdown banner took 40% off an 80V blower kit and a First Snow Savings collection cut snow blowers; reviewers say later drops are not price-matched.

Greenworks sells cordless outdoor tools direct from its own US store, and it sells a lot of them across several battery families: 24V, 40V, 60V, 80V and 82V. Batteries do not cross between voltages, so the first decision is a platform, not a tool.

Prices on the site are written as a list price with a discount, and in October most of our picks were marked down by a quarter to 40%. That makes list prices close to meaningless and timing important. Our advice: commit to the 60V platform, buy the 21-inch self-propelled mower kit on sale, add bare tools later, register everything, and avoid the open-box and renewed deals unless you accept that they are final sale with a 90-day warranty.

What to buy (and what not to)

01Smart buyBest for: Lawns up to 3/4 acre

60V 21” Cordless Battery Self-Propelled Lawn Mower, LM2116S

$699.99 List price. It showed $449.99 in October, a $250 saving, with two 4.0Ah batteries.

A brushless, steel-deck self-propelled mower with two batteries in the box, and the best value in the range on sale.

This Pro-line kit runs two 60V 4.0Ah batteries at once through dual ports with automatic switching, which Greenworks rates at up to an hour of mowing and 3/4 acre. The 21-inch deck is stamped steel, there are seven cutting heights, and the 4-in-1 system mulches, bags, side-discharges or switches to a turbo leaf-pickup mode. The handles fold, and the warranty is four years on tool and batteries.

The Bazaarvoice reviews pooled across its family average about 4.5 out of 5. Low-rated reviews mention a mower that cut out on dewy grass and had to be restarted by reseating the batteries, a failed blade switch with no spare parts, a corroded deck after a few seasons, and one unit that arrived with a bent handle.

Not so good

  • Reports of cutting out on wet grass until batteries are reseated
  • Spare parts can be hard to source, low reviews say

Good

  • Two batteries and a dual-port charger included
  • Four-year tool and battery warranty
  • Steel deck with a leaf-pickup mode

The numbers

  • Coverage up to 3/4 acre
  • Runtime up to 1 hour with two 4.0Ah batteries
  • Recharge 80 minutes for both on included charger
  • Cutting heights 7

80V 750CFM Cordless Battery Leaf Blower

$249.99 List price. An October flash sale cut it 40% to $149.99, with battery and charger.

A handheld 80V blower with cruise control and a turbo button, worth buying only at its flash-sale price.

The BL80L2516 kit includes a 2.5Ah battery and 4A charger. Greenworks rates it at 750 CFM and 170 mph, with variable speed, cruise control, a turbo button and up to 60 minutes of runtime; the full kit weighs 8.82 pounds with the battery. That battery also runs Greenworks’ other 80V tools, so it doubles as a cheap way into the platform.

Its reviews are pooled with sibling 80V blowers, averaging about 4.4. The newest one-star reviews are a warning about how you buy rather than what you buy: several shoppers who chose the renewed version describe scratched units, wrong or older batteries, and no refunds. Buy it new, at the sale price, and expect well under an hour if you live on turbo.

Not so good

  • Small 2.5Ah battery limits time on turbo
  • Renewed units drew complaints about wrong batteries and no refunds

Good

  • Turbo and cruise control in a sub-9-pound kit
  • 80V battery fits the rest of the 80V range

The numbers

  • Airflow 750 CFM, 170 mph
  • Weight 8.82 lb with battery
  • Runtime up to 60 minutes
  • Recharge 75 minutes

03Good buyBest for: 60V owners who edge too

60V 16” Brushless Cordless Battery String Trimmer (Attachment Capable)

$319.99 List price, with a 4.0Ah battery, charger and strap. October price: $189.99.

A brushless bump-feed trimmer that takes attachments, sold with the larger 4.0Ah battery.

Model ST60L413 cuts a 16-inch swath with a Load N’ Go bump-feed head that takes 0.080 or 0.095-inch line. Greenworks quotes up to 40 minutes on the included 4.0Ah battery and an 80-minute recharge, and the split shaft accepts most compatible trimmer attachments, so an edger or pole saw head can share the motor. It weighs 9.2 pounds before the battery and carries the four-year Pro warranty.

Reviews pooled across the 60V 16-inch trimmers average about 4.4. The low ones target the head: bump feed that stops advancing, line that needs restringing every few minutes, a handle that loosened within months, and one buyer sent an obviously repacked unit as new.

Not so good

  • Bump-feed failures are the main complaint
  • Heavy at 9.2 pounds before the battery

Good

  • Takes edger, pole saw and other attachments
  • Larger 4.0Ah battery than most trimmer kits

The numbers

  • Cutting swath 16 inches
  • Runtime up to 40 minutes on 4.0Ah battery
  • Line 0.080 or 0.095 inch, bump feed
  • Weight 9.2 lb without battery

04Good buyBest for: Short driveways, light snow

60V 20” Cordless Battery Snow Blower

$579.99 List price, with one 4.0Ah battery. October sale: $463.99.

A brushless single-stage blower for modest driveways, and a sensible second tool if you already run 60V.

This kit pairs a 2.0kW brushless single-stage blower with one 60V 4.0Ah battery and a 3A charger. It clears a 20-inch path up to 10 inches deep, throws snow up to 25 feet, and Greenworks rates it for a 4- to 6-car driveway per charge. If you already own 60V batteries, that range makes it a modest add-on rather than a gas replacement.

Reviews across the family average about 4.2. The one-star reviews are specific: an auger that stops the moment it meets wet snow, a drive belt that burned off after a few light storms and could not be found on the parts site, a unit that smoked three months in, and complaints that it is hard to push without adjustable skid shoes.

Not so good

  • Struggles in wet or deep snow, reviewers say
  • Wear parts such as the belt can be hard to find

Good

  • Uses the same 60V batteries as the mower and trimmer
  • Light enough for paths and short driveways

The numbers

  • Clearing width 20 inches, 10-inch depth
  • Throw distance up to 25 feet
  • Capacity up to 6-car driveway per charge
  • Recharge 80 minutes

40V 21” Cordless Battery Self-Propelled Lawn Mower, LM2154S

$599.99 List price, one 5.0Ah battery. October sale: $399.99, only $50 below the 60V two-battery kit.

The cheapest self-propelled 21-inch kit we found, but it covers less lawn and reviews less well than the 60V.

The LM2154S gives you a 21-inch deck, brushless motor, self-propel, seven heights up to 4 1/16 inches and a 3-in-1 mulch, bag or side-discharge system, with one 40V 5.0Ah battery. Greenworks rates it for up to 60 minutes and 1/3 acre, and the included charger takes 150 minutes per battery. The page adds that a 40V 8Ah battery will not let the battery cover close.

Its pooled reviews average about 3.9, the weakest of our mower picks. One-star buyers report runtime of 10 to 35 minutes per battery, a battery that died on the first day, and a load-sensing cutting mode that starts slow and leaves uncut grass. Unless you already own 40V batteries, the 60V kit is the better buy.

Not so good

  • Runtime complaints are frequent among low reviews
  • Rated for 1/3 acre against 3/4 for the 60V kit

Good

  • Lowest price for a 21-inch self-propelled kit here
  • Works with batteries you may already own on 40V

The numbers

  • Coverage up to 1/3 acre
  • Runtime up to 60 minutes, one 5.0Ah battery
  • Recharge 150 minutes per battery
  • Max cut height 4 1/16 inches, 7 positions

80V 21” Cordless Battery 4-in-1 Self-Propelled Lawn Mower, LM2108S

$799.99 8.0Ah battery and 6A charger. No discount showed in October.

A capable 80V mower with one big 8.0Ah battery, priced well above the discounted 60V kit.

The LM2108S kit pairs a steel 21-inch deck and brushless motor with a single 80V 8.0Ah battery and a 6A charger. Greenworks rates it for up to 80 minutes and 3/4 acre, with an 80-minute recharge, seven heights up to 4 inches and the same 4-in-1 mulch, bag, discharge and leaf-pickup system as the 60V. The warranty is four years.

It does not cover more lawn than the 60V kit on paper, and in October it sold at full price while the 60V was $250 off. The low reviews, pooled with renewed versions, describe self-propel levers that stop working or cut the motor, a dead battery out of the box, and a warranty claim for a plastic cover sent to management review. Wait for a sale.

Not so good

  • Costs $350 more than the discounted 60V kit for the same rated area
  • Self-propel faults recur in one-star reviews

Good

  • Up to 80 minutes on one 8.0Ah battery
  • Large battery runs the 80V blower too

The numbers

  • Coverage up to 3/4 acre
  • Runtime up to 80 minutes
  • Recharge 80 minutes on 6A charger
  • Max cut height 4.0 inches, 7 positions

80V 24” Cordless Battery Two-Stage Snow Blower

$2,499.99 With two 5.0Ah batteries and a dual-port rapid charger. No discount showed in October.

A big battery two-stage blower that Greenworks treats as final sale, which turns any disappointment into your problem.

On paper it is serious: a 24-inch, two-stage path, intake for snowfalls up to 20 inches, a 200-degree chute that throws up to 50 feet, a powerhead with room for three batteries, and a rating of a 16-car driveway per charge. It weighs 176.4 pounds.

We pass for two reasons. Greenworks’ return policy lists dual-stage snow blowers as final sale. And the one-star reviews are about exactly what a final sale makes painful: under 15 minutes of running from the two included batteries, an auger that starts and stops, a unit dead on arrival. Two reviewers also say the price fell sharply soon after they paid, one from $2,099 to $999, and Greenworks would not adjust it. One owner wanted to buy it without batteries and could not.

Not so good

  • Final sale: no returns under Greenworks’ policy
  • Runtime and auger complaints from early owners

Good

  • Up to 50-foot throw and a 24-inch path
  • Tri-port powerhead for longer runs with a third battery

The numbers

  • Clearing width 24 inches, up to 20-inch snowfall
  • Throw distance up to 50 feet
  • Capacity up to 16-car driveway per charge
  • Weight 176.4 lb

The review pile, summarized

The product reviews on Greenworks’ own pages are decent, usually 3.9 to 4.5 out of 5 for the tools we checked, though they are pooled across related models and include renewed units. Trustpilot is harsher: 1.7 out of 5, “Bad”, from 1,526 reviews when we read it in October, and the profile appears to mix US and UK buyers.

The recurring themes are service and paperwork. Reviewers describe hard-to-reach support, AI chat replies, refunds issued with no explanation, and orders that could not be cancelled after the 30-minute window. One shopper who saw a lower price the next day was told to place a new order instead.

Product complaints focus on batteries and chargers failing near or after the warranty, bump-feed trimmer heads, and spare parts that the site does not list. Renewed and open-box buyers report wrong batteries and no recourse, which matches the final-sale policy.

Quick questions

Which Greenworks voltage should I buy into?

Pick the platform that covers your biggest tool. Batteries do not cross between 24V, 40V, 60V and 80V, so a mower decides the rest. In October the 60V 21-inch self-propelled kit came with two batteries at a lower sale price than the 80V model with one, and both are rated for 3/4 acre. The 40V mower is rated for 1/3 acre, and the 24V line suits small yards and hand tools.

Are Greenworks open-box and renewed deals worth it?

Only if you can live with the terms. Greenworks’ return policy says renewed and open-box items are final sale, with no returns, refunds or exchanges under any circumstances, and the warranty on renewed products is 90 days rather than three or four years. Recent one-star reviews of renewed blowers describe wrong or older batteries. The discount is real, but so is the risk.

Can I return a Greenworks tool I have used?

Generally no. Returns are accepted for new and unused products in original packaging, received back at the warehouse within 30 days of delivery, and Greenworks deducts the shipping cost from the refund. Combo kits must come back complete. Problems after use go through the warranty instead, which requires product registration, proof of purchase and a return authorization from Greenworks’ phone line.

Does Greenworks price-match if the price drops after I order?

Its promotions policy does not promise it, and reviewers say no. Several describe seeing a lower price days after ordering, including a two-stage snow blower that fell from $2,099 to $999, and being refused an adjustment. You can cancel within 30 minutes of ordering if you are logged in, so check for a better deal before you pay.
