BÉIS Review 2026: What's Actually Worth Buying
BÉIS’s best-selling Carry-On Roller is bigger than many airlines allow, so the smart buy is its $248 Small Carry-On. Here is what the lifetime warranty really covers and when sets go on sale.
We may earn a commission if you buy through our links, once we join a brand's program. It never changes a call. How that works.
- Skip the upgrade
- Skip the Hybrid Carry-On unless you will buy matching Hybrid pieces. It costs $50 more than the Small Carry-On for 4 extra liters and a coupling system.
- Best time to buy
- When sets are discounted. In October the site advertised up to 25% off travel sets and a Last Chance Sale, while single Rollers stayed at full price.

BÉIS is a California travel brand that sells mainly through its own US store. Its polycarbonate Rollers run from $248 for the Small Carry-On to $368 for the Large Check-In, with duffles and backpacks well below that, and nearly everything comes in a handful of neutral and seasonal colors at one price.
The headline problem hides in the spec sheet. The best-selling Carry-On Roller measures 22.83 by 15.7 by 10 inches, larger than the size many US airlines publish for cabin bags, and BÉIS itself sells the newer Hybrid as smaller and built to meet airline size rules. Our advice: buy the Small Carry-On Roller if you fly with a carry-on, check your airline’s numbers before anything bigger, and read the warranty, which covers wheels, handles and zippers only.
The 7 we looked at
The Small Carry-On Roller
$248 Black or Maple, the two colors listed in October.
BÉIS’s most compact roller and the one whose dimensions fit typical US carry-on limits.
The Small Carry-On measures 13.2 by 21 by 9 inches and weighs 7.15 pounds, with 31 liters inside. It keeps the Roller line’s features: a stretch “cram zone” with compression straps, a hidden AirTag pocket, a bag hook that holds up to 30 pounds, TSA locks, Hinomoto 360-degree wheels and a cushioned trolley handle. BÉIS says it is meant for the smallest overhead bins, and one review quoted on the page reports using it on Ryanair.
The review widget showed about 1,600 ratings averaging 4.9, with none below four stars, so treat the score cautiously. Even the four-star reviews flag the obvious: it is small for more than two or three days, the handle channel splits the interior, and one owner missed the side compression flaps found on older BÉIS cases.
Why it's smart
- Dimensions sit within common US carry-on limits
- Hidden AirTag pocket and 30-pound bag hook
- Lightest roller in the line at 7.15 pounds
The catch
- 31 liters is tight beyond a long weekend
- No reviews below four stars visible, an odd gap for 1,600 ratings
From the product page
- Size 13.2 x 21 x 9 in
- Capacity 31 L
- Weight 7.15 lb
- Warranty limited lifetime, luggage

The Weekender
$118 Same price in all five colors listed in October.
The canvas duffle that made BÉIS famous, with a shoe compartment and a padded laptop sleeve.
The Weekender is a wide-opening canvas bag with a bottom compartment for shoes or toiletries that folds away to make one big space, a padded laptop pocket for up to 16 inches with a magnetic closure, a trolley pass-through, a key leash and padded straps. BÉIS lists it at 17.91 by 15.75 by 9.84 inches, 42 liters and 3.68 pounds.
One quirk: the same page calls its airline size “Carry-on” in one panel and “Personal item” in another, and gives the weight as both 3.68 and 3.6 pounds. At nearly 18 inches long, plan on it being your carry-on. Its 16,800 reviews average about 4.8. The one-star end describes crossbody strap hooks that broke on a first trip, a bottom zipper that frustrated, and a bag that felt heavy once loaded.
Why it's smart
- Separate bottom compartment for shoes
- Padded 16-inch laptop pocket and trolley sleeve
The catch
- Strap hardware failures show up in one-star reviews
- Too big for most personal-item limits despite one label on the page
From the product page
- Size 17.91 x 15.75 x 9.84 in
- Capacity 42 L
- Weight 3.68 lb
- Laptop up to 16 inches

The Medium Check-In Roller
$338 Black. Every listed color was $338 in October.
A 26-inch expandable checked case that covers most trips without the bulk of the Large.
The Medium Check-In holds 78 liters, or 94 expanded, in a polycarbonate shell with a weight-indicator handle, hidden AirTag pocket, 30-pound bag hook and the Roller line’s compression system. The spec block lists 17.67 by 28.19 by 10.98 inches and 9.9 pounds; the FAQ on the same page says 28.3 by 17.7 by 11 inches and 10.2 pounds, so allow for the larger figures.
Even the larger figures add up to about 57 linear inches, well below the Large’s 63. Its 7,600 reviews average about 4.85. Low-rated reviews mention grease-like stains and a chipped corner after one trip, a zipper that detached on first use, and a delivery that arrived after its owner had left, with BÉIS declining to extend the return window.
Why it's smart
- Expands from 78 to 94 liters
- Weight indicator in the handle
The catch
- Shell stains and scuffs, low reviews say
- Product page gives two different sizes and weights
From the product page
- Capacity 78 L, 94 L expanded
- Size 17.67 x 28.19 x 10.98 in
- Weight 9.9 lb

The Hybrid Carry-On Roller
$298 Black, Espresso and Dusty Blue were all $298 in October.
A newer carry-on sized to airline rules, with a coupling system that links Hybrid cases into one rolling unit.
The Hybrid measures 22 by 14 by 9 inches, holds 35 liters or 41 expanded, and weighs 8.39 pounds. Its patent-pending coupling system clips any Hybrid rollers together so you push one unit instead of two, the bag hook holds up to 50 pounds and folds out as a phone stand, and aluminum corner guards protect the shell. BÉIS describes it as smaller than its original carry-on and built to meet airline size requirements.
It has only about 65 reviews, averaging 4.8, all four or five stars. The recurring note is size: several owners call it smaller than expected or than their old carry-on, and one misses the side compression flap. Compared with the Small Carry-On, you pay $50 more for 4 liters, an expansion zipper and the coupling.
Why it's smart
- Expands to 41 liters while starting at 22 x 14 x 9 inches
- Couples to other Hybrid rollers
The catch
- $50 more than the Small Carry-On for little extra space
- Heaviest carry-on here at 8.39 pounds
From the product page
- Size 22 x 14 x 9 in
- Capacity 35 L, 41 L expanded
- Weight 8.39 lb
- Bag hook up to 50 lb

The Large Check-In Roller
$368 Black. All listed colors were $368 in October.
A 111-liter checked case that is easy to fill past airline weight limits and sits near size limits too.
The Large Check-In is the biggest Roller: 19.69 by 30.98 by 12.48 inches, 111 liters expanding to 132, and 11.33 pounds empty, with the same weight-indicator handle, AirTag pocket and compression straps as the Medium. Those dimensions add up to about 63 linear inches, and one one-star reviewer says American Airlines treated it as oversized; check your carrier’s checked-bag limit before buying.
At 7,500 reviews it averages about 4.8. Most one-star complaints concern orders that never arrived or arrived weeks late; product complaints include a weight indicator that did not work and, on Trustpilot, an expansion zipper on a large case that split open on its first trip. Zippers are at least covered by the warranty.
Why it's smart
- Largest capacity in the range, 132 liters expanded
- Built-in weight indicator to avoid overweight fees
The catch
- About 63 linear inches, near or over some airline limits
- Easy to pack past checked weight limits
From the product page
- Capacity 111 L, 132 L expanded
- Size 19.69 x 30.98 x 12.48 in
- Weight 11.33 lb

The Pro-Rolling Duffle Check-In
$438 Black or Khaki, both $438 in October.
A hybrid checked bag with a ballistic nylon front and polycarbonate back, priced well above the hardside rollers.
The Pro-Rolling Duffle pairs a protective polycarbonate back shell with a ballistic nylon front that BÉIS says resists water and abrasion. It holds 93 liters and weighs 10.8 pounds, opens through a U-shaped front panel so you can reach things without laying it flat, has a stowable divider and bottom compartment, and carries a handle that signals when you pass 50 pounds. Reviewers like that the wheels are set into the body.
The weakness is evidence and price. Only three reviews were posted when we read it, too few to judge, and at $438 it costs $100 more than the Medium Check-In for 15 more liters. The luggage warranty covers polycarbonate luggage, so check with BÉIS whether this nylon-fronted bag qualifies before you rely on it.
Why it's smart
- Front panel opens without a full clamshell
- 50-pound weight indicator in the handle
The catch
- Only three reviews so far
- Costs $100 more than the Medium Check-In
From the product page
- Capacity 93 L
- Weight 10.8 lb
- Materials ballistic nylon front, polycarbonate back

The Carry-On Roller
$268 Black. All eight listed colors were $268 in October.
BÉIS’s famous best-seller, sold as a carry-on but measuring larger than many airlines allow in the cabin.
The Carry-On Roller has the most reviews of anything BÉIS sells, more than 20,000 averaging about 4.8, and it is easy to see why: 49 liters expanding to 61, compression panels, a cushioned silicone handle, a weight indicator and a 7.81-pound shell. BÉIS pitches it at overpackers forced to bring only a carry-on.
We pass because of one line on the spec sheet: 15.7 by 22.83 by 10 inches, before expansion. That is larger than the cabin-bag size many US airlines publish, and a reviewer says American Airlines made them check it on two flights. BÉIS’s own Hybrid listing calls that model smaller than its original carry-on and built to meet airline size requirements. If you will check it anyway, the Medium is the better buy; if you will not, get the Small.
Why it's smart
- 49 liters, expanding to 61
- Huge review base averaging about 4.8
The catch
- 22.83 x 15.7 x 10 inches exceeds many carry-on limits
- Handle padding peeled quickly, one owner reports
From the product page
- Size 15.7 x 22.83 x 10 in
- Capacity 49 L, 61 L expanded
- Weight 7.81 lb

Reading the one-star reviews
BÉIS’s own review widgets are glowing, around 4.8 out of 5 across tens of thousands of ratings for the Rollers and the Weekender. Trustpilot rated beistravel.com 1.7 out of 5, “Bad”, from 269 reviews when we read it in October.
The two pictures do not contradict each other as much as they look. Most Trustpilot and on-site one-star reviews are about orders, not bags: packages marked delivered that never arrived, automated email replies, refunds sent to closed cards, and a buyer refused a price adjustment when the price dropped soon after purchase.
Product complaints are specific and recurring: expansion zippers that split, strap hardware on the Weekender, peeling handle padding and stains on light shells. One Trustpilot reviewer chasing a wheel under the lifetime warranty was asked for order details they no longer had, so keep your receipt. The Small Carry-On widget showed no reviews below four stars at all.

Well-designed, heavily reviewed cases and a 45-day return window, undercut by an oversized flagship carry-on, a warranty limited to wheels, handles and zippers, and a 1.7 Trustpilot rating.
If BÉIS is not it
- CALPAK. Choose it instead if you want a cheaper hardside carry-on in more colors and a five-day price adjustment.
- Samsonite. Choose it instead if you want a heritage luggage maker with a much wider range of sizes and materials.
- Away. Choose it instead if you want to compare another direct-to-consumer hardside carry-on before deciding.
Quick questions
Will the BÉIS Carry-On Roller fit in the overhead bin?
Possibly not. BÉIS lists it at 15.7 by 22.83 by 10 inches before expansion, larger than the cabin-bag size many US airlines publish, and a reviewer says American Airlines made them check it twice. BÉIS’s newer Hybrid Carry-On (22 by 14 by 9 inches) and Small Carry-On (13.2 by 21 by 9) are the safer choices. Always compare with your airline’s own limits.
What does the BÉIS lifetime warranty cover?
Less than the name suggests. It covers polycarbonate luggage bought from BÉIS or an authorized retailer, and only wheels, handles and telescoping handles that break or stop working, and zippers that fail. Airline handling, abrasion and accidents are excluded. Lifetime means the reasonable life of the materials, not yours. Approved claims get a prepaid label and replacement luggage, which may differ in color or size.
How long do I have to return BÉIS luggage?
Forty-five days from the purchase date, not the delivery date, so a slow shipment eats into it. Items must be unused with tags and original packaging and bought from the BÉIS site. Exchanges and store credit are free; refunds to your card lose a $10 handling fee, and original shipping is not refunded. Personalized items are final sale.
